Teachings on Practice - Part Six

VI. A conversation between student and teacher

Student: What may I teach to liberate all beings from suffering?

Teacher: You may teach this dharma.

Student: What is that dharma?

Teacher: The Way of Peace dharma is this. Sit, hands folded, say vows, observe mind. Read pure uplifting words. Touch the earth in gentleness. Read peaceful, kind words. Touch the earth in gentleness. Touch other beings in lovingkindness.

Never return anger for anger.
Never return mistrust for betrayal.
Give thanks to all beings.
Give no cause for resentment, cause no harm.
Be loving and kind to all beings.

Sit, hands folded, say vows, observe mind. Do kindness all day. Do not war with your own soul.

Sit, hands folded, say vows, observe mind. Give thanks. Honor your own soul and your purpose in this existence. Do no harm.

Sit, hands folded, say vows, observe mind. Give thanks. In this manner will all being learn the Dharma of Peace and find liberation from suffering.

Sit, hands folded, say vows, observe mind. Give thanks. In this there can be no attachment.
