The Three Pillars of the Order
The three pillars of Reiki Dharma are Gassho, the Five Principles for living provided by Mikao Usui, and Reiki Healing practice including the transmission of Reiki attunements.
I. The first pillar is Gassho, or blessing. In this case it refers to meditation. We practice meditation to clear our souls of negative thoughts and emotions that may obscure the pure light of healing love that is the ground of our practice. Enter meditation gently and in a spirit of compassion, not only for the well-being of those for whom you practice but for yourself as well. Healing in the order begins within the monk. As you offer loving kindness and compassion to yourself, you are healed, and as you are healed the healing energy flows out into the whole world. You are one with all things. As you meditate you do so for the liberation of all beings. As you offer healing to yourself you do so for all beings.
As a monk of the Reiki Peace Order you commit to practice twice daily. Practice begins with meditation. Instructions for meditation will be provided to the initiate if he/she does not already know how to meditate.
The meditation invocation:
“I fold my hands, rest my mind. I seek enlightenment for myself and all beings.”
II. The second pillar is the Five Principles of right living given to us by Usui. The principles are taught in the west with many variations. Here is offered the variation taught to me by my Reiki Masters. I offer these to honor the gift they passed on to me. The monk who recited the principles may use them as taught by his/her teachers.
The Principles should be the object of meditation and the monk should work diligently to live them out each day:
Just for today I will trust
Just for today I will do my work honestly
Just for today I will accept my many blessings
Just for today I will be at peace
Just for today I will respect the rights of all life forms
The five Principles are expanded to create the precepts taken by the monk upon his ordination.
The Five principles and precepts of the Reiki Peace Order are:
Just for today I will not be angry
I vow to cultivate peace in my life and in the world around me
Just for today I will not worry
I vow to trust in the Way of Things
Just for today I will be thankful
I vow to celebrate all things as blessing
Just for today I will do my work honestly
I vow to live with integrity in all my relations
Just for today I will be kind to all beings
I vow to practice for the healing and liberation of all beings.
III. The third Pillar of Reiki Dharma is the invocation and transmission of Reiki into the world. The monk may practice for individuals who have requested healing treatments, for him/herself, and for the whole world. There is no limit to Reiki and its healing power.
The Reiki invocation:
“I invoke the presence of Reiki, Universal Life Force, to manifest the peace and healing of Spirit in the world. I offer to all who ask, to the world at large, and to myself. May all beings find great liberation from suffering.”
