Morning Practice
Morning practice should be performed as early as possible after waking, so that the cares of the day do not distract the Monk from his duties. A simple liturgy such as the one that follows may be used to structure practice. All things should be done
Stand at the entrance of the practice space and center your mind. Breathe in and out five time in slow even conscious breaths.
Say:
" I enter this space for the healing of all beings."
Go the your altar and ring your bell three times.
Light a candle and say;
"I light this candle for the healing of all beings. May all beings find the light of life."
Light incense and say:
"I offer this fragrance and fire for the healing of all beings. May it make all lives sweet and lovely."
Ring bell three times.
Settle into the position best suited for your meditation. Offer prayers to your Gods if you have any and read a brief portion from a holy text or book of poems.
Ring bells three times.
Repeat the Five principles:
For today do not be angry
For today do not worry
For today be thankful
For today work honestly
For today be kind to all beings.
Chant each of the Three Reiki Symbols three times, visualizing them in your mind invoking the flow of Reiki energy.
Speak the Master mantra and visualize the Master Symbol.
Visualize the symbol of the Order.
Then say:
I am myself, body, soul and spirit
I am those I love (name some of them), body, soul and spirit
I am those I work with and live with, body, soul and spirit
I am those who would call me enemy, body, soul and spirit
I am all spirits light and dark above and below, body, soul and spirit
I am the Earth and All her Beings, body, soul and spirit
I practice that we all may find peace, healing and liberation from suffering.
Begin to send Reiki. First to yourself allowing yourself to receive the light and love of the universe. Then to family, friends and lovers. To those who have wronged you. To your community and country. To all beings. To enemies and hungry ghosts and beings caught in the web of attachments and desires. Rest in this flow until you sense a release.
Say:
"May all being be healed. May all beings receive light and love. May all being be liberated from suffering. May I be a healing presence to all beings throughout this day."
Ring the bell three times
Say the Five Principles
For today do not be angry
For today do not worry
For today be thankful
For today work honestly
For today be kind to all beings.
Say a prayer of thanksgiving to your Gods or to the universe. Snuff the candle. Snuff the incense.
Bow to the altar.
Ring the bell three times, bow to your practice space and enjoin your day mindful of your role as a Monk in the world by repeating your ordination vows:
I vow to be a monk in this world that all beings may be liberated from suffering and find peace. I vow to turn anger into peace; to turn worry into trust; to practice gratitude for all things; to live with integrity in all my relations and to being kind to all beings. This is my vow.
Stand and perform a Dry Bath.
